For a number of years, Cambridgeshire has awarded a trophy for the best shooter aggregated across the different disciplines: It works as follows: for each discipline, everyone who attends the County Championship and shoots gets one point. In addition to this the County High Gun gets 10 points. The next score down gets 9 points, next score down gets 8, and so on down to the 10th highest county score which gets 1 point. Note that if many people get the second highest score they all get 9 points, and the next highest county score still gets 8 points. Shoot-offs are ignored for the purposes of this calculation. Still with me? Excellent. There has been a change in the way that shoots qualify for Supreme Champion, voted for by members at the 2014 AGM. In previous years it was only shoots that occurred on a Sunday, this has been changed so that all county shoots qualify whether they are shot on a Saturday or Sunday. In addition your 12 best scores out of all 15 will be used to calculate your position.

Supreme Champion Clarification of Rules in Event of a Tie

2014 was the first year that Supreme Champion scores have been so close. On several occasions during the run-up, the scores have tied. In the event of a tie, after completion of the competition, the shooter who has scored the most 11's takes the title. Should that not break the tie then the number of 10's will be counted, then 9's and so on until the tie is broken and there is a clear winner.

New Calculation for Supreme Champion

Up until now, the webmistress has had to calculate Supreme Champion by hand. There are many ways in which errors can occur considering the sheer volume of people and scores involved. In future, the scores for each individual championship will be taken directly from the main CPSA website to reduce any errors. Unfortunately, some grounds are slower than others at publishing scores. If you do not see an update for Supreme Champion, please check whether the club has published the scores on the main CPSA website before asking where the latest leaderboard is! Better still - contact the club in question and ask them to publish their results to the CPSA.
