The Cambridgeshire skeet faithful travelled to Northampton shooting ground on Sunday 26th April. The day started cool and overcast the latter was just the job as it meant the sun was of no consequence, a good thing at Northampton shooting ground. The first squad of Cambs shooters when they started didn't know that they had in their midst the forthcoming County Champion but as they got through the ranges it did seem likely that might happen. Colin Fordham was going like a train, with his first 50 perfect kills then one away on the 3 round followed by another 25 perfect kills. So on a 99, Colin then retired to the club house to await the other returning shooters' scores. As the afternoon progressed, Tim Jones came in with a 98 shortly followed by a further two 98s. All eyes were focused on Chris Morris to see what he could muster, but alas Chris came in with a 96 so Colin had got himself a County Championship and also the Bev Waller Trophy, open to anybody whereever they live. A shoot off was required to sort the Senior trophy and A class between the 98 brigade of Tim Jones, Peter Gaskin, and Glen Moulding. Doubles on station four was the venue with Glen bagging all four targets; Glen took the Senior trophy and B Class. Peter only missed one target so getting class A, and Tim went home knowing that he had done himself proud with a super score of 98 and a place in the team. Other winners were Allan Wright, with the Vets trophy on 95 . Chris Morris the AA and the C Class going to Mark Adams with 90 his personal best. Lee Hodson came very close shooting his very first 25 and finished with 89. Many thanks to Martine and staff at Northampton S.G. for holding our Championship.
